The Annikki Poetry Festival celebrates Finland's linguistic diversity and international atmosphere through poetry, prose, music, visual art, and performances. Held in the courtyard of the over 100-year-old Annikki Wooden Quarter in Tampere, Finland, the festival features outstanding Finnish and international performers representing languages including Finnish, Swedish, Sami, Romani, Finnish Sign Language, Arabic, Russian, Vietnamese, Swahili, English, Lithuanian, Spanish, and Tibetan. The festival offers a rich programme including children's activities, a festival park with free entertainment, an open mic for poets, a book bazaar, visual arts, and an after party. The event also highlights murals dedicated to Finnish poets and incorporates strong elements of Romani culture. Founded by residents in 2003, the festival has grown into one of Finland's biggest and most international poetry events.
