About
ARTWIFE is a multidisciplinary international festival presenting contemporary art with a strong focus on feminist and gender issues. Taking place annually in Liptovský Mikuláš and organized by the cultural center "Diera do sveta," the festival curates a space where art, activism, and academia coexist. The festival brings feminist thinking to the public through various formats, particularly contemporary art, complemented by educational programs that reflect on artistic events. It connects individuals and groups developing and practicing feminist thinking across artistic, theoretical, and activist levels. The festival serves multiple audiences: those engaging with feminist thinking, as well as local and extra-regional audiences. Through interconnecting artistic and theoretical components, ARTWIFE presents increasingly challenging and adventurous programming while maintaining accessibility. The festival was awarded the Františka Plamínková Prize in 2021.
