Kalamata Street Festival

Kalamata Street Festival

Kalamata, Greece

About

Kalamata Street Festival was initiated by K.A.NE., a Social Youth Development non-profit company, promoting youth creativity and participation through street arts, cultural activities and sport events, contributing to the social cohesion and cultural development of the Messinia Region, Greece. The festival seeks broad partnerships, inviting civil society organisations to participate in its actions, running over four days each year during the last weekend of July, hosting more than 20 parallel events each day as a free, international festival powered by volunteers and the local community. The programme combines concerts, street theatre, circus performances, street dance, sport activities, exhibitions, art installations and educational activities, supporting young and marginalised artists. Environmental sustainability is woven into the festival through recycling stations and a plastic-shredding project that repurposes bottle flakes for building sailing boats for children.
