Mamatita Festival

Mamatita Festival is the first festival in Sardinia dedicated to contemporary circus and travelling shows, recognised by the Ministry of Culture. Designed and curated by SpazioT of Alghero, one of the most active cultural organisations on the island, the festival creates a space for meeting, exchange and dialogue around the languages of contemporary circus, street theatre and multidisciplinary performing arts. "Mamatita" in Algherese-Catalan means "nanny, the one who feeds, raises and takes care": with this idea, the festival nourishes a community that in turn feeds and sustains art. Mamatita stands out in the regional panorama for its originality, entirely dedicated to contemporary circus and travelling show formats, positioning Sardinia as a meeting point for international artists and a reference in the Mediterranean for new circus. The festival hosts established artists and new generations alike, alongside activities dedicated to puppet theatre, urban performances and social circus.
