About
SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER is an international festival of theatre schools with over 35 years of tradition. The festival is uniquely organized by students of the Theatre Faculty of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts. It was established to facilitate meetings between theatre professionals and students while transforming Brno into a cultural hub. The non-competitive festival attracts student theatre groups from around the world, including participants from the Visegrad Four countries, South Korea, Colombia, the Philippines, the USA, and beyond, fostering encounters across diverse cultures, languages, and theatrical genres.
