Tolfama – International Festival of Improvised Arts

Tolfama – International Festival of Improvised Arts

Tolfa, Italy

About

An artistic-cultural event organized by the National School of Improv and Theatre "Vicolo Cechov" of Civitavecchia in collaboration with the Municipality of Tolfa, Italy. The festival brings together improvisation schools and theatre companies from Italy and Europe, involving improvisation teachers from around the world. It specializes in Site Specific Theatre, creating improvised performances in evocative architectural and archaeological locations throughout Tolfa's historic centre. The festival attracts approximately 120-130 improvisers annually who perform in the streets, squares, and alleys of the town, transforming it into an open-air theatre. The event aims to enhance the town's artistic, historical and architectural heritage, promote theatrical improvisation as an art form, support local businesses, engage diverse audiences, and contribute culturally to the region through an interactive and non-traditional festival experience.
