World Roma festival Khamoro
Prague, Czechia
About
Khamoro ("Sunshine" in Romani) is the world's largest professional Romani festival, established in 1999 in Prague and organized by Slovo 21 and Studio Production Saga. The festival features more than 260 bands from 33 countries, including renowned groups such as Mahala Rai Banda, Kočani Orkestar, and Parno Graszt. Beyond Romani music concerts, the event offers exhibitions, children's activities, oral history programmes, film screenings, dance workshops, and conferences. It attracts approximately 10,000 visitors annually from Czechia and abroad. The festival aims to interconnect the Romani minority with the non-Roma majority through arts and culture, and has been supported by notable figures including former President Václav Havel.
