About
The Internationales Straßentheaterfestival Holzminden (International Street Theatre Festival Holzminden) is a biennial street arts festival in the town of Holzminden, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is organised by the town and has been held since 1991, over the Whitsun (Pentecost) weekend in odd-numbered years. The artistic direction comes from an independent cultural office. The festival is regarded as one of the best-known street theatre festivals in Germany. International companies perform in the streets, squares and parks of the town centre. The programme covers acrobatics, clown theatre, dance, performance, street theatre and contemporary circus, in both small-scale and large-scale formats. There is also a family programme in the Kauffmannsgarten park. Performances are open-air and free to attend, and the audience can contribute by donation under the motto 'Austritt statt Eintritt' (pay on the way out). The public also votes for audience awards.
