About
Mużika Mużika is a Maltese music festival dedicated to promoting and preserving the Maltese language through song and music. Originating in 1960 as the Malta Song Festival, the event has evolved through several iterations, including the Festival Internazzjonali tal-Kanzunetta Maltija (established in 1981), which brought together Maltese and international artists to compose and perform in Maltese. Relaunched in 2013 by Festivals Malta under its current name, the festival has become a significant national event. By celebrating artistic expression in Maltese, the festival aims to safeguard linguistic and cultural heritage, foster emotional connections between performers and audiences, and promote Maltese culture internationally while contributing to European cultural diversity.
