About
ȘI Festival is a multidisciplinary cultural project held annually in July in the seaside village of 2 Mai, Constanța County, Romania. The festival presents over 90 free cultural events across eight days in indoor and outdoor locations adapted from public and private spaces. The program attracts over 6,000 participants, including local residents and tourists. The festival emphasizes sustainability as a social, cultural and creative principle, reflected in eco-friendly production methods, space reuse, minimal printed materials, digital communication and community environmental actions. It addresses local challenges including limited cultural infrastructure in rural coastal areas, environmental pressure from mass tourism, and limited professional opportunities for emerging artists. The program includes six main sections: theatre, film, music, visual arts/exhibitions, forum and workshops. An official competition features over 20 theatre performances and short films by emerging artists.
