Deventer Op Stelten (Deventer on Stilts) is an international outdoor theatre festival and the biggest theatre festival of the East of the Netherlands. Held annually in July, it offers more than 130 top performances in the field of outdoor theatre in the historic city centre of Deventer and surrounding locations. Due to its specific form and artistic quality, Deventer Op Stelten has grown into a leading festival for international outdoor theatre, with high-level programming, both literally and figuratively, setting it apart from other festivals at home and abroad. The lineup ranges from high-quality outdoor theatre to open-air performances high above the audience, from theatre on stilts to high-level spectacles, from humorous acts to intimate theatre confrontations. The festival is experienced by more than 100,000 visitors as a special, accessible, festive and high-quality cultural event, with free admission.
